Close to Home: This One Hurts
Last night one of my son's opponents was killed in a car accident.
I don't know the details, don't need to know the details.
It's a little like how the Humboldt bus crash hit hard all those years ago...but this hits harder. Way harder.
Barely 24 hours earlier -- I watched this kid play against my son's team.
Great player -- you bet I noticed him.
Number 12 is a stud. Don't let him beat you to the outside.
Causes me pause.
Not just about my own son or his teammates' driving...but just how quickly things can change.
He wasn't a teammate, my son didn't really know him personally...but their hockey circles overlapped greatly.
Stops you in your tracks, makes you think.
Really sad day around here.
